Gzhunteidht, now once more.

As most of you know, I'm a control freak. I remember saying to a new boyfreind once as we were doing something fantastic, romatic and slightly illegal (and I was getting more and more nervous): "I have a problem with athority,  in that I really like to obey it."

This is all a very concious reaction to the fact that there are no rules in life or order in the world and at any moment everything may break down and there is noting I can do to stop it or protect the ones I love. I am in the worst line of work for someone with this particular phobia/neuroses to be in, journalism. In which, every day, it is my duty to tell you about all the things you are the helpless prey of.

Strangely enough I got into this line of work because I firmly believe that the only thing that will save us is correct information, properly deissmenated. Which is why I love the swine flu

Not only does it present the potential for death and destruction (which I crave, the more impossible a situation, the more I want to solve it with appropriate adhereance to rules, see poor John's 6 month campaign against my becoming a war correspondent and Andrew's attempts to make me realize I will not be able to breathe if I live with not one but two cats) but with proper dissemination of information it CAN be controled! On top of this, we can prove it with a previous example! The 1918 Spanish Influenza epidemic!
Hurrah!

So validate my world view damn it and don't travel like everyone is telling you!
