Beginnings

In the ultimate act of self obsession, or perhaps just introspection, I'm starting a blog. Several friends have suggested that I do this. I'm finally at a point where having made five (significant) moves in my life, its time to start keeping track of things in some fashion.

I'll do my best not to ruminate on my own neuroses, or list my daily activities. But I make no guarantees. However dispatches will make an attempt at wit and self efacement.

First newsflash:
My boss just called me Cynthia. I like the name very much and would prefer it to my own. too many Katherines around this joint. Litte known fact: my mother wanted to name me Celeste when I was born. My father stopped her with "What if she's fat, the kids will tease her about being an elephant." (Celeste was the wife of Babar, King of the Elephants in a series of French children's books.) My brother was going to be Marston.

Huzzah for the self-esteme saving, creativity squashing march of traditional family names

If it makes you feel any better, I was going to be Kyle before my maternal grandmother decided that was a "black" name, and nixed it (somehow). Little does she know I'm named for Alex Haley.

-Alex (duh)
